Sherrie is a United Methodist Pastor presently working part-time as solo pastor at Bethany UMC in Itasca, Illinois. Sherrie was previosly lead pastor of Berry Memorial UMC in Chicago’s north side for ten years and four years pastor at Galena UMC, Galena, Illinois. Presently working part-time in the church allows Sherrie time for her writing and helping to care for her daughter Temma Day Lowly who is 27 years old and lives with severe and profound disabilities. The title of her blog “Writing From the Margins” reflects spending life with Temma in the margins of culture where listening and waiting and God abound. Sherrie is presently working on a book project of her own life and Temma’s life and how the two intertwine. Sherrie’s partner and Temma’s Dad, Timothy Grubbs Lowly is an artist and musician. He is art professor and artist-in-residence at North Park University in Chicago, IL.

Sherrie holds an M.A. In Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University, Chicago and an M.Div. degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.
